Madison Duarte (born June 13, 1988) is a competitive girl who was the head cheerleader at King High School. Her former best friend, sidekick, and right-hand supporter was Sherry Pena. Madison was once good friends with Ashley, but became her enemy after Ashley started dating Aiden. Her brash, superior, and homophobic outlook proved trouble for Ashley and Spencer's relationship. Her personality ultimately improved after her parents lost their wealth and when she then had to deal with the events of the King High shooting incident. She currently maintains a professional relationship with Ashley as they work together in the music industry.

History

Season 1

At the beginning of the series, Madison is Aiden Dennison's girlfriend. She was with him because at the time, he was the star player of the King High basketball team. Once Glen Carlin moved in and started upstaging Aiden on the basketball court, Madison and Aiden drifted apart, and Madison started dating Glen. Madison knowingly helped create a rift between Aiden and Glen, despite her caring for both of them deep down. Madison was once good friends with Ashley but they became bitter enemies for a while, with Madison making many cruel and homophobic comments toward her and Spencer. Throughout this season, Madison is usually seen with Sherry, the second-in-command of the cheerleading squad.

In season two, Madison's parents lose their wealth, forcing Madison to work as a waitress at the local bar to earn money. She is kicked off of the cheerleading team by Sherry as well, and Sherry takes her place as the cheer captain. In her now-unglamorous lifestyle, Madison comes to realize the error of her previous ways. She has a mental breakdown and recovers from it slowly but steadily. At prom, Madison genuinely apologizes for her homophobic attitude toward Ashley and Spencer.

Season 3

By the end of the season, Madison becomes a singer who works with Ashley as her songwriter. At first, Ashley did not want to work with Madison because her songs were specially written for Spencer, but they worked things out and decided that Ashley would write new songs for Madison to perform.
