Chelsea Lewis is one of the main characters of South of Nowhere from season two onward. She is an aspiring artist and was Clay Carlin's girlfriend. She helped him through many of the issues he faced following the move from Ohio. She was pregnant and she wanted to have an abortion at first, but support from Clay as well as his death changed Chelsea's mind.
In the season 3 episode "Fighting Crime," Chelsea loses her baby after someone rams into Glen's car while she's sitting in it. It would have been a girl. She then dated Glen, Spencer's brother, and ultimately moved to Paris to study art. Her studio is featured frequently in the third season as a major location.
Background
Chelsea is a good friend of Sean Miller as well as Spencer and Ashley. She is a free spirit, an artist who bravely looks life in the face. She is drawn to people and situations that are true and good, which is why Clay Carlin caught her eye. Life threw a curve ball at Chelsea when she became pregnant and put aside art school in Paris to figure out what step to take next. Clay was determined to keep the baby, but Chelsea struggled with the options. With Clay gone, she was forced to face it all on her own.
Relationships
Clay Carlin
Clay was Chelsea's boyfriend, and she was his first love. They loved each other deeply, but Chelsea's pregnancy did cause some uncertainty between them, since Clay wanted to keep and raise the baby while Chelsea had not made her own decision yet.
Sean Miller
Sean and Chelsea were longtime childhood friends. Sean said in season two, "You and I have been friends for a long time, even before our boy (Clay) showed up." Chelsea and Clay did not know it, but Sean had a crush on Chelsea for much of their childhood. He wanted to be with her when he returned in season three, but Chelsea and Glen had started a relationship.
Glen Carlin
Glen and Chelsea start dating in season three. Previously, Glen frequently helped Chelsea with her projects and her studio, even acting as a live model.
Spencer Carlin
Spencer and Chelsea are good friends. Chelsea was the first person to find out that Spencer was gay, and she was supportive from the very start. Clay found out soon afterwards and did the same.
